as longsuffering as algebra

A friend/apprentice of mine posted this poem by her suitemate on her blog and I thought it was funny enough to be worthy of a repost (with permission, of course). Enjoy!

as longsuffering as algebra

it waits

for someone
to understand it

for someone
to ace its tests

for someone
to get its formulae

it is a little like love
only not really

it is patient
sometimes kind

it is never envied
those who get it

boast and are proud
it is rude

to make an artist
take it

it is self-seeking
it causes those

who are easily angered
to get angry

even thse who are not
do

if you get it wrong
it is obvious

it is evil
but also true

those who like it
protect it

its anwers claim
to be trustworthy

those who don't get it
hope for the best

and those who are smart
perservere

until they
get it

Yay for your friend! Gosh, she must be super nice to get her awesome suitemate's permission to repost that amazing poem. You should buy her, say, a car.
